This social satire portrays a stout English squire standing on the left, one hand in his pocket, talking to a thin foppish Frenchman who wearing a spotted suit and large queue wig, one hand on his cane and the other tucked into his coat.

Twenty-five years later with the French Revolution, the emphasis turns to images of “French Liberty” and “English Slavery”.
