Description

Anti Jacobite Royal Family Medal, Greetings Card.

George 11, Anti Jacobite Royal Family Medal, by J. Croker busts of the seven children of George 11 with Frederick, Prince of Wales in the centre, FELICITAS IMPERII, (THE HAPPINESS OF THE KINGDOM),  (MI 500/47; Woolf 44/1)).

This medal is very much part of the medallic war which was taking place between the Jacobites and the Hanoverians. In 1731 the Old Pretender had issued his medal by the Hamerani’s in Rome trumpeting the credentials of his two children, Charles and Henry. George’s reply was this, twice the size, showing the seven offspring of the established order.
The medal was issued by George to be given to foreign dignitaries.

150 x 150 mm, contained in cellophane wrapper with fitted envelope.
