Description

A Long Story, 1782, Greetings Card.

Etching, 1782, by Henry William Bunbury, published by J.R. Smith opposite the Pantheon, Oxford Street.

Henry William Bunbury (1750 –1811) was an English caricaturist. The second son of Sir William Bunbury, he was a popular character and the friend of most of the notabilities of his day. Being a contemporary of Rowlandson and Gillray but from a privileged background, he never resorted to political satire. This is probably as well as he was appointed equerry to the Duke of York and Albany in 1787, a man for whom the term scandal could have been invented.

130 x 180 mm, contained in cellophane wrapper with fitted envelope. Price includes Postage & Packing.
